"My images explore possibilities of decolonization by isolating and rearranging iconic components of realities. By combining ideas in cosmology, Meso-American mythology and my family’s stories into my work I reframe my experiences of growing up on the frontera revealing spaces of shared experiences. It is my belief that identity past—present—future is in constant evolution. The intermingling of cultures in a more tolerant society is the future. Adaptation and transformation require a foot in the past and present, a familiarity with transitions between borders, and a flexibility that is conducive to a re-imagination of realities."

Kim Bishop is a nationally exhibited artist who has been working from her San Antonio, TX based studio for the past 20 years.  Her mission is to socially engage audiences in the process of art making to create a healthier world.  "I tell the stories of my past, present and future through subconscious imagery and process-oriented techniques.  Growing up in Austin, TX at a time of civil transition, my semi-autobiographical stories examine themes of displacement and survival mechanisms."

Brandy González's work provides a currently under-represented perspective within the art canon by showcasing Hispanic culture in various forms. One of her favorite sayings is a Mexican proverb which states, "They tried to bury us, they did not know we were seeds." This adage provokes a feeling of resilience, survival and strength which is incorporated into her pieces. González's work adds to the creative expression of the Hispanic imagination, touching on a visual culture that is integral to American art.  With the use of bold imagery and saturated colors, her works seek to advance the value and representation of Xicanas within the mainstream narrative of American art.
